Gardening indoors is much like gardening outsidewith a large space, you can create plantings with big star plants, climbers, lots of rich color, small fillers for the front, and fun plants to perk things up.
One of the most striking, "must-have" conservatory plants to use as a focal point is the exotic crane flower (Strelitzia reginae), which resembles a fabulous bird's head and is surprisingly easy to grow. Other star plants include the chunky Brazilian shrub called yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Brunfelsia pauciflora), whose mass of flowers turns from purple to mauve and white, and the elephant-foot tree (Nolinia recurvata), with its long, bare stem and wild array of thin leaves.

When you've chosen key plants for a specific theme, the next step is to decide what to group around them.
