Daturas (Brugmansia) are among the many container plants that enjoy being put outdoors over summer. Brugmansia X candida 'Grand Marnier,' also known as angel's trumpet, is a stunner, with splendidly large, feltlike leaves and apricot flowers that emit a gorgeous, rich scent in the evening.

Other choices for good scent include freesias (in a wide color range), Heliotropium arborescens, and the wax plant (Hoya carnosa), which has stiff-petaled white flowers with a neat red eye.
